To connect Insentric to Marketo, you’ll need API credentials. This guide walks you through how to generate those credentials by creating a custom API role, an API-only user, and a LaunchPoint connector within your Marketo instance.
Create a dedicated Insentric API role — grant only necessary permissions
To minimize risk, create a dedicated role that grants Insentric only the access it requires. Avoid assigning it to broader roles used by other tools. Use the following configuration details when setting up the role.
- Log in to your Marketo instance with admin access.
- Go to Admin → Users & Roles, then click the Roles tab.
- Click New Role.
- Configure the role as follows:
- Role Name: Insentric API
- Description: Permission set for read-only access to Marketo
- Permissions: Select only the following:
- Access API → Approve Assets
- Access API → Read-Only Activity
- Access API → Read-Only Activity Metadata
- Access API → Read-Only Campaign
- Access API → Read-Only Company
- Access API → Read-Only Custom Object
- Access API → Read-Only Custom Object Type
- Access API → Read-Only Lead
- Access API → Read-Only Opportunity
- Access API → Read-Only Salesperson
- Access API → Read-Only Platform Insight Metrics
- Access API → Read-Write Assets
- Click Create.
Create a dedicated Insentric API user — assign the new role
- Go to the Users tab and click Create API Only User.
- In the popup, enter:
- Email: [email protected]
- First Name: Insentric
- Last Name: API User
- Roles: Insentric API
Set up LaunchPoint connector — finalize Insentric setup
- Go to Admin → LaunchPoint.
- Click New → New Service.
- Use these values:
- Display Name: Insentric
- Service: Custom
- Description: (Optional) For internal use only
- API Only User: Select the Insentric API User
Click Create, then click View Details to get your Client ID and Client Secret. These credentials will be needed during the Insentric platform configuration.
